As Fiji is a country of islands bordered by the great Pacific Ocean, it's simply instinctive for a tourist to expect numerous adventures both on the water and in it. Known as the 'Soft Coral Capital of the World,' Fiji's warm sea waters make it deal for scuba diving. Fiji owns a colorful variety of marine life that will captivate any water visitor. Colorful fish, eye catching corals, and sharks thrive so get your waterproof camera ready. If snorkeling is more your cup of tea then the shallow reefs are also ideal as you will be able to see plenty of sea life even if you stay close to the water's surface.
Other waters sports of Fiji include surfing, windsurfing and sailing. Professional surfers will tell you that the breaks of Fiji are comparable to those of Hawaii, so make sure you talk to locals if you are an in experienced surfer. Many of the resorts offer windsurfing boards so if you are not too confident on a surfboard, you can give windsurfing a go instead.
A trip on a small rented sailboat or catamaran is a great way to take a water adventure around the island. It is also a great way to take in a little fishing while you are cruising around. If you are interested in deep sea fishing there are many specialists that can take you deep-sea fishing for tuna, marlins, sailfish, and other big game fish.
Kayaking is also a popular pastime in Fiji. An alternative to a kayak is a paddle boat, a smaller boat-shaped board that you straddle with both legs in the water. If you are looking for an adrenaline rush I would strongly suggest the whitewater rafting in the rapids of the Navua River found in East Viti Levu.
